The studio recording of ‘The Men I Love’ featuring some of London’s greatest musicians is released at the end of January on the very prominent and exciting Naim Label. With her customary approach to arrangements of The New American Songbook, (songs by Byrne and Eno, Cohen, Dylan, Diamond and more) in collaboration with composer Simon Wallace Barb reveals herself to be a peerless interpreter of popular song, championing pop tunes as classic repertoire. Musicians are Simon Wallace on piano, organ and synth, Frank Schaeffer on cello, Steve Watts on double bass, Paul Clarvis on percussion and Clive Bell on flutes and shakahachi. The album was recorded in London, mixed by Christoph Bracher and features the photography of Steve Ullathorne.

Barb Jungr 'No Regrets' and 'I Got Life' elected Best Cabaret Show in Time Out New York

In March Barb performs a 3 week season at New York's premier cabaret room the Cafe Carlyle, at the Carlyle Hotel with her new collection of songs arranged with British composer and pianist Simon Wallace. ‘The Men I Love’ features songs by songwriters including Dylan, Cohen, Springsteen, Simon and more, in stunning new arrangements by Barb and Simon, with whom she worked on her best selling album of Bob Dylan songs and her chansons material for Linn Records.

In spring 2009 Barb performs around the UK, in her own collections and also continuing her concerts with Variety Lives.

Summer 2009 sees Barb launching a new show in the UK produced by Warren Lakin and Mike McCarthy. Accompanied by Jenny Carr and Jessica Lauren, ‘Tell It Like It Is – Barb Jungr sings songs of War and Peace’ is based on her performance earlier in the year in the International Voices Series for The South Bank and features songs by Bragg, Brel, Cohen, Dylan, Previn, Bogle and Stevens among more. The show will support the work of International Alert and will feature Don McCullum’s photographs. The show is booked for the Edinburgh Festival and beyond.

NEW WRITING AND COLLABORATIONS
Barb is developing a piece with The Little Angel Puppet Theatre for 2010. The Fabulous Flutterbys is a children’s story with music, centering on the trials and tribulations of two caterpillars in the modern, changing world. She is collaborating with composer Jonathan Cooper as lyricist and book writer on a piece celebrating the circus star and tiger tamer Mabel Stark, which had a first work in progress showing at Greenwich Theatre’s Musical Future’s season in November 2008. With physical theatre practitioner John Paul Zaccarini Barb is writing The Art Of Falling Gracefully, supported by Newbury Corn Exchange.

NEW RECORD - JUST LIKE A WOMAN
Barb’s new CD and 6th recording for Linn Records, ‘Just Like A Woman – Hymn to Nina’ (AKD 309) is released on March 10th 2008.
The CD features songs originally sung by Nina Simone and recorded with a stunning group of musicians including pianist and Barb’s MD Jenny Carr, organist and multi instrumentalist Jessica Lauren, drummer Johnny Lee, bassist Danny Thompson and saxophonist and clarinetist Mark Lockheart. The album is produced by Barb and legendary Blue Nile producer, Calum Malcolm.
Tracks include Break Down and Let It All Out, Lilac Wine, Feeling Good, Keeper Of The Flame, The Times The Are A’Changin’, Just Like A Woman and Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.

BARB WINS NIGHTLIFE AWARD IN NEW YORK
2008 starts with a bang as Barb wins the the Nightlife Award for Outstanding Cabaret Vocalist. This is the only broad-based, critic-driven award show for Nightlife in New York. The Nightlife Awards celebrates the best performances in cabaret, comedy, and jazz, the winners chosen by a total of four different panels representing nearly thirty critics from across the city. Barb will appear at the winners concert on January 28th at The Town Hall in Manhattan.

BEAUTIFUL LIFE - THE SINGLE
For the first time Linn Records release a single of Barb’s Beautiful Life (co-written with Adrian York). Available from July 23rd from Itunes, linnrecords.com and other download sites.
