NEW RECORD - JUST LIKE A WOMAN
 Barb’s new CD and 6th recording for Linn Records, ‘Just Like A Woman – Hymn to Nina’ (AKD 309) is released on March 10th 2008.
The CD features songs originally sung by Nina Simone and recorded with a stunning group of musicians including pianist and Barb’s MD Jenny Carr, organist and multi instrumentalist Jessica Lauren, drummer Johnny Lee, bassist Danny Thompson and saxophonist and clarinetist Mark Lockheart. The album is produced by Barb and legendary Blue Nile producer, Calum Malcolm.
Tracks include Break Down and Let It All Out, Lilac Wine, Feeling Good, Keeper Of The Flame, The Times The Are A’Changin’, Just Like A Woman and Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood.

BARB WINS NIGHTLIFE AWARD IN NEW YORK
2008 starts with a bang as Barb wins the the Nightlife Award for Outstanding Cabaret Vocalist. This is the only broad-based, critic-driven award show for Nightlife in New York. The Nightlife Awards celebrates the best performances in cabaret, comedy, and jazz, the winners chosen by a total of four different panels representing nearly thirty critics from across the city. Barb will appear at the winners concert on January 28th at The Town Hall in Manhattan.
BEAUTIFUL LIFE - THE SINGLE
For the first time Linn Records release a single of Barb’s Beautiful Life (co-written with Adrian York). Available from July 23rd from Itunes, linnrecords.com and other download sites. SONGWRITING NEWS
Barb continues her collaboration with John Paul Zaccarini on a project for 2007/8, and is writing an original piece for children (libretto and lyrics), with music by BB Cooper, The Flutterbys.
BARE AGAIN
The 1999 album Bare, a near-live album recorded by Overtones Productions for Irregular Records has been unavailable for some time. Inspired by an invitation to re release it from ZC Music in the USA, Barb added three other Irregular tracks released on '9 by 2' and a CD produced for The Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture. Christoph Bracher remixed the original album and artist and photographer Garry Laybourn produced a new cover based on his original sleeve in 1999. The CD will be available from May in the USA and in the shops in the UK on import. During the production of the re-release Barb's friend and long time accompanist and collaborator, Russell Churney, sadly died. This album, on which Russell accompanies Barb on piano on fourteen tracks, is a celebration of his artistry and musicianship.
WALKING IN THE SUN
The new CD (Linn AKD 283), was released October 2006 to great reviews, featuring a collection of gospel and blues songs arranged by Barb with pianist and MD Jenny Carr and organ and harmonica player Jessica Lauren. FILM
The fabulous Cheek2Cheek productions filmed Barb in concert with Jenny Carr on piano and Jessica Lauren on organs and harmonicas at New Greenham Arts on March 10th. Including songs by Barb and Russell Churney, Adrian York, Christine Collister and Sarah Travis as well as material by Eric Bibb and Robb Johnson the promotional DVD and selected clips will be available for all the websites in late spring.
UK TOURS
Barb plays in the UK throughout the spring and early summer with two main repertoires - Walking In The Sun and Barb Jungr sings Bob Dylan. She is usually accompanied by Jenny Carr on piano and either Jessica Lauren on harmonicas and organ, or Thad Kelly or Andy Hamill on bass. Live dates »
ABOUT WATER
The song cycle 'About Water' written by composer Mark Anthony Turnage for Barb, (and for which she has written the text) will be performed at The Queen Elizabeth Hall on June 15th with jazz soloists from the USA and the UK, the London Sinfonietta and four classical singers. Classical Brittanica on BBC4 TV will show a film about Mark Anthony's work with excerpts from the rehearsals for this project later this year.
THE SINGER MAGAZINE Barb continues to write for The Singer magazine with recent articles on listening, Clare Teal and Eddi Reader.
